In the video below, you'll hear Adama Guindo's heart-wrenching tale of survival, as well as the stories of others who have been forced to flee their home villages and are in desperate need of food in the war-torn Sahel region of Africa.

The violent conflict in the region has uprooted communities that have relied on farming for generations.

The situation is so bad that the United Nations recently declared the Sahel region — including Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger and Chad — to be one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises in terms of human suffering.
